DeLorme inReach for Android - Transform Your Smartphone
|
Use By Itself or Pair it With Your Android® Phone for 2-Way Communications!
By itself, the DeLorme inReach is a helpful piece of equipment allowing you to perform basic communication functions such as sending pre-defined messages to let other know your status, allow family and friends to track your travel progress, and send SOS messages to search and rescue personnel if you encounter trouble. However, these functions, even though they can be very useful, are not what makes the inReach special. By pairing the device with your Android® based smartphone, you can establish 2-way text message communications with anyone else - even when you are far off the beaten path and out of cellular network range. This capability, as well as the Iridium satellite network that the inReach operates on, make the DeLorme inReach the most powerful and capable personal satellite / gps communicator on the market today.
A 2-Way Communicator When Paired with Your Smartphone
With wireless Bluetooth connectivity and a free Android® app, the inReach allows you to pair your Android® smartphone to the device, giving you access to detailed DeLorme topo maps that are downloaded to your phone, enhancing the GPS capabilities of your smartphone without draining the phone's battery and, most importantly, allows you to both send and receive text messages up to 160 characters! Try that with the other satellite communicators. Using the inReach in conjunction with your cell phone also allows you to send interactive SOS messages when in danger - giving you the chance to tell responders exactly what your situation is and even update the response center if your condition changes.
Powerful Even On It's Own
Even when not paired with your smartphone, the inReach is still a great tool. Send pre-loaded texts messages to friends and family when you arrive at your destination, signal search and rescue personnel with SOS messages and get a confirmation that your message was delivered. You can also let others view your track and GPS coordinates - all with the simple push of the appropriate button. So, even if your smartphone dies, you can still stay in touch with friends, family and rescue personnel at any time - and anywhere on the globe!
