eGear EQ2 Ultralight Headlamp

For pilots, headlamps can really prove useful in the cockpit. They free up your hands to fly the plane rather than fumbling with your flashlight or reaching to turn the cabin lights up. The eGear Ultralight Headlamp (also known as the EQ2) lives up to this expectation with it's simplicity, dual mounting options and lightweight but durable casing. Not to mention the fact that it can be had for less than $10! It doesn't skimp on quality and light-output, however. The ABS plastic casing is water resistant and the magnifying lens focuses the 22 lumen LED light into a useful area without a lot of side-scatter. The EQ2 is incredibly simple to operate with a twist-on and twist-off ring around the lens. There are two modes the headlamp will operate in - steady on and flashing. These modes are easily changed by turning the lamp off and then back on again.

We offer two case colors for the EQ2: a standard black case and a high-visibility orange case

From camping, to flying an aircraft, to working under your car, headlamps can be handy pieces of equipment. These days, the market is literally inundated with versions ranging from expensive "expedition" headlamps to cheap ones you might find in a hardware store. We at Aeromedix work hard to eliminate some of the guess work for you by only focusing on products we feel are superior in some way. Enter the eGear EQ2 Ultralight Headlamp.

Why We Like It
The biggest selling points for the EQ2 are price and the weight. With a pricetag of under $10, it's going to be difficult to find a headlamp that is as well built and functional as the EQ2. As pilots, we're always concerned about the weight of the equipment we have and headlamps are no exception. The fact that this powerful light comes in at under an ounce means you can wear it for long periods of time in comfort and you'll probably even forget you have it on! With both the included headstrap and the built-in mounting clip, the EQ2 can be worn or clipped to a shirt or other equipment. The pivoting lamp also lets you adjust the angle to get the light where you want it. The only drawback we've experienced with the EQ2 is that there is no beam width adjustment. While missing some of the bells and whistles of more expensive headlamps, the EQ2 packs in simplicity, tough construction and a generous battery life for the money.

Keeps the Light Where You Need It
Similar to the Freedom Micro Light Covert, the EQ2 Ultralight headlamp keeps the beam of light from scattering all over the place. Instead of using a lens sleeve, however, the EQ2 utilizes a magnifying focus lens to keep the light where you need it and not shining in the eyes of those around you. The 22 lumen lens puts out more than enough light to see exactly what you are doing but is still very efficient on the dual lithium coin cell batteries.

Multiple Mounting Options
Sometimes you just don't want to actually wear a headlamp or you'd like to keep your hat on and still use the lamp. The EQ2 solves this problem with a built in clip that can be used to attach the lamp to the bill of your cap, shirt, kneeboard, etc. Of course, you can always use the comfortable, elastic headstrap as usual. Either way, the EQ2 makes it pretty simple to mount it almost anywhere you need it.
